Feed - in - Tariff

Feed in Tariff's (FIT's) became available in Great Britain on the 1st April 2010
  1. Under this scheme, energy suppliers make regular payments to householders who generate their own electricity from solar PV panels.

  2. The scheme guarantees a minimum payment for all electricity generated by the solar panels, currently 16p per kilowatt hour (pkwh), whether it is used or not.

Also a separate payment is made for the electricity exported back to the grid, currently 4.5 p/ pkwh. Most electricity suppliers assume that 50% of the electricity generated will be exported. These payments are in addition to the bill savings made by using the electricity generated on site.

  3. In order to be eligible for the feed-in and export tariffs, your solar panels must be installed by an MCS registered company. Just Solar Panels Ltd are certified under the Microgeneration Scheme.
